If you own this type of license, it’s important to read the sections below to  understand the necessary changes and impacts to your existing environment—before you move ahead with SMS-Magic Converse.

Who should not Upgrade?

Customers that do not presently have per-user licensing can upgrade to this release of SMS-Magic Converse. However, due to pricing changes, please contact your account manager at SMS-Magic to learn how to migrate to the new licensing model.

Impacts from Upgrading to Converse

There are a number of changes or impacts that will affect your Salesforce.com organization:

Users of your Salesforce Org that access the SMS-Magic application.

Opt-In/opt-out compliance settings.

Send SMS Buttons, Conversation View Pages, and look-up fields.

Permissions and access to SMS-Magic objects which have been given to user and user profiles in your Salesforce.com organization.

Below, we provide the details of each of these changes.

User Licenses

There are several impacts to user licensing:

SMS-Magic Converse enforces the new per-user license model, which means that every user of your Salesforce organization must have an SMS-Magic User License.

Even if you own an adequate number of user licenses who are using SMS-Magic, it is necessary to manually assign each of those user SMS-Magic licenses.

You can assign SMS-Magic user licenses in the User Management section within SMS-Magic Settings.

Opt-in / Opt-Out Compliance

These are the impacts to opt-in / opt-out functionality:

To ensure there is consistency on Messaging Compliance for all objects in your Salesforce organization, SMS-Magic Converse configures the Compliance settings on a global level.

It is necessary to specify each record as an opt-out.

While configuring the opt-in/opt-out identifier, you can use one or more existing fields.

Configuring Messaging Compliance is a one-time activity, and can be done during SMS-Magic setup in the Compliance feature.

Message Configurations

These are the impacts to messaging configuration:

To ensure the availability of all the necessary components for sending and receiving messages from an object, we now implement the Message Configuration feature in SMS-Magic Converse.

A Message Configuration contains visualforce pages, lookup fields, and other necessary components for each object that enables it to send and receive messages.

It is necessary to create a Message Configuration for each object with which you want to converse, and also re-configure the Send SMS Buttons and Conversation View.

Message Configuration will also set up the phone fields used to send messages for each object and will take input for the Opt-in/Opt-out identifier fields.

Creating a Message Configuration is a one-time activity, and can be done during SMS-Magic setup in Message Configuration.

For assistance in configuring Send SMS Buttons and the Conversation View, you can access our resources.

Permission Sets and Custom Permissions

These are the impacts to the permissions:

To provide more control over permissions on SMS-Magic features, we now introduce Permission Sets and Custom Permissions in this release.

To provide access to all the objects and fields that will use SMS-Magic Converse, it is necessary to assign a permission set to each user and assign Custom Settings to each of the Profiles in your organization that will use SMS-Magic Converse.

Users and profiles that do not receive the necessary permission sets and Custom Permissions will be unable to use SMS-Magic Converse.

Details for configuring Permission Sets and Custom Permissions may be found in the Permission Management feature of SMS-Magic Setup.
